Council of Mortgage Lenders continues discussion on the
provision of Islamic Home Finance in the UK
On 27 March 2003, Mr Keith Leach, Manager, Manzil Home Purchase Plans, will
be presenting the Bank's experience on the structures, barriers and market
experience of Islamic Home Finance in the UK as part of a one-day forum to
be attended by a selection of key executives from the mortgage industry.
The forum will also include comments on the subject by Sir Edward
George, Governor, Bank of England. For more information, please see the

The Bank has played a pivitol role, working with the Governor, the CML and
the government to achieve changes to the laws in the UK to enable the wider
availabilty of competitive Islamic products.
